Petersburg to repave downtown
Petersburg’s City Council members decided to repave the three blocks downtown, and will be contacting engineers regarding placing bids for the project, said City Clerk Lori Goss.
The city also plans to replace the pumping station on Petersburg Road, and will be seeking bids for that work as well.
The delinquent property tax bills have been sent to the county. Anyone who wishes to pay the delinquent bills will have to travel to the Monroe County office to do that, said Ms. Goss.
Council members briefly discussed items they will address at a joint meeting with the Summerfield Township Board on Monday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the city hall. The meeting will be to talk about the fire protection contract for the city.
Spring Clean Up has been set for Saturday, April 24 at Stevens Disposal on Ida West Road. City residents may bring unwanted bulky items to the site from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Department of Public Works’ general maintenance garage roof will be replaced next week. The garage is located on East Center Street.
Summerfield Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Nick Lucas announced that this year, the Community Days celebration will be held Friday and Saturday, July 16 and 17. More details will be forthcoming later.
