Thirteen Colonies’ production brought to stage

Dundee Middle School students performed a play entitled “The Thirteen Colonies” on Monday, June 7. The play was put on by the fifth grade classes and was directed by Mrs. Sisung, Mrs. Stroud, and Mrs. Schanz.

Mrs. Sisung was in charge of the musical aspect of the play, which included songs about the colonies and important people like Lief Erikson and Ponce de Leon.

Mrs. Stroud was in charge of the stage direction and Mrs. Schanz helped with choreography.
The students had been practicing the play for six weeks and have been waiting to put on this play for a while.

“They all have a lot of fun with this sort of stuff,” said Mrs. Stroud. “It’s always fun to work on this play, even as the directors.”

The musical included appearances from Vikings, Ben Franklin, Keystone cops as history police, and was narrated by George and Martha Washington.

The students made all of the props and parents helped to make sure that the play had everything it needed to be put on properly.

The play was performed for the school twice, once in the morning for the younger students, and once in the afternoon for the older students. Students seemed to enjoy the jokes and comedy of the colonial satire.
