Mayfly Music Festival attracts good crowd
This year’s Mayfly Music Festival in Dundee attracted 4,000-5,000 people on Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15. This year’s headliner was country star David Lee Murphy. Other performers were the Mighty Meaty Swing Kings, and several local bands. Friday night, music was provided by Da Blooze Brothers who were a returning act and a local favorite.

The festival was held for the third year. New this year were amusement rides and games for children, a daytime arts and crafts show, as well as food vendors, beer tent, and a truck raffle.

The truck raffle winner was Keith Wagner, who could choose between a two-year lease on a truck or $5,000 cash; the $500 winner was Marge Hander and the winner of a Cabela’s gift certificate was Brian Marcel.

The festival, founded and operated by the Dundee Area Business Association, was conceived not only to highlight the Dundee community, but also to be a major fundraiser for the community’s various non-profit groups. Community groups were invited to have food or other booths at the festival, and benefited from truck raffle tickets they sold.
