July 4 Celebration set
Dundee’s 4th of July Homecoming Celebration will return this year. However, the event will be a bit different than it has been in the past. It will now be a one-day event held on Saturday, July 3 at Rod Park.
Dundee Recreation Commission is sponsoring the following attractions.
• Parade1 p.m. Begins at Dundee High School, goes down Barnum to M-50 and ends at Rod Park. To join the parade, call Dan Motylinski at 734-529-2650. Floats are welcome.
• Vegas Tent, opens 4 p.m.
• Beer Tent, featuring can beer.
• New Merchandise Auction 4 p.m.
• Live Band Tom Rowe Band Performing, 9 p.m.
• Taco Stand.
• Horseshoe Tournament, 2:30 p.m., $10 entry fee, half going to prize money. Contact Jon Fitch at 734-777-4117 to register.
• 300 Club Raffle Drawing.
There will not be a fireworks display or amusement rides.
Unfortunately, due to escalating costs and more strict requirements to shoot large fireworks displays, the Dundee Recreation Commission has determined it would not be feasible to offer a display. And, due to the declining public interest and the reluctance of larger, higher quality ride companies to contract with event as small as Dundee’s, the group has decided against bringing in rides.
Any local organizations that might like to participate in the event should call Rich Schrader at 734-529-7931 or Tom Winkelman at 734-529-3947.
