Township sets road projects
Dundee Township Board members decided on the major road improvements to be done during 2005 at their Tuesday, Sept. 14 meeting.
The board already has committed to spending about $300,000 to improve Meanwell Road.
In addition, the township will join with the Monroe County Road Commission (MCRC) to repave Brewer Road from Davis Road to the intersection of Petersburg Road. Cost to the township will be $50,000. The MCRC share of the project is $78,000.
Township Supervisor Joanna Uhl said the MCRC also will work with the village to repave that portion of Brewer Road that is now in the village.
“A lot of people use Brewer Road, and it seems like a good thing to do,” said Mrs. Uhl.
Other township road projects including removing berms, doing ditching and adding stone to certain roads. Cost of stone is $25,000 for three inches of stone per mile.
The township will add stone to Petersburg Road from M-50 north to Kent Road; and Rea Road from Kent north to Day Road.
Other roads to be stoned include Irish Road, Eggert Road and Trost Road. The township will use its county self-help money ($2,500) to help with the Eggert Road project.
Township Board members also signed a contract with the MCRC to replace the culvert at the Koster Drain at Day Road, at a cost of $2,500. The work had already been completed.
