Dundee School Board interviews construction management firms
Dundee Community Schools Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 4 to interview three construction management firms.

The district is planning to build a new high school. Board members previously said they would hire URS Greiner, the architectural firm the district has retained, as project manager.

Concerns voiced by some residents, however, has led the board to consider hiring a separate construction management firm.

No decision has been made to do that, however, and the board may decide to retain the URS Greiner firm as project manager in the end.

Further discussion will be held on the matter and a decision could be made at the Monday, Dec. 11 board meeting. The Dec. 11 board meeting will be postponed from 7 to 8 p.m. due to a holiday band and choir concert at school.

On Dec. 4 the board interviewed these three construction management firms: Krauss-Anderson of Minne-apolis, Minnesota, which built the Cabela’s store in Dundee; Hunt Construction Group of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Granger Construction of Lansing, Michigan.

The board agreed to request bid proposals from each of the construction management firms, and have them include a list of specific services they would supply to the district.

URS Greiner presented a project manager approach at the Nov. 27 board meeting, and has submitted a cost proposal.
