| Thanks to everyone who responded to our unscientific survey about the use of our web pages. We have concluded that after several years, even with the recently reduced content that we have had on our pages, that it only damages our paid circulation.
Most of the respondents were from out of town and the most common complaint was that the news was a week late by the time they got the paper in the mail. Considering that most of those people are too far away to be attending timed events, we don't understand that concern. Some respondents were unaware that we could mail to anywhere in the country, plus APO (military) addresses. Click here to subscribe to the newspaper. The Independent will keep its web presence, without timed content, and it will also maintain the mailing list for breaking news. Breaking news is what we consider important news that will be 3-6 days old by the time the paper comes out, and will be covered by one of the dailies in the area. Feel free to sign up on the left hand side of the page for breaking news. |
