Summerfield High School’s Pep Club and School Improvement team collected new toys for Mott’s Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. The toys will be given to youngsters hospitalized over the holidays and also will be used in the hospital’s therapeutic programs for children all year long. Pictured, the SHS health class sorts and bags some items to be donated to the hospital.

Students in Ida High School’s home economics classes made elaborate gingerbread houses out of real gingerbread. On Friday, Dec. 13, some of the students showed off their handiwork, including (from left): Ashley Jablonski, Tasha Merz and Deonna Vaneeckhoutte.

Ed Proctor, of Dundee’s Caring and Sharing program, collected donations of food and money for the Monroe County Food Bank program at Cabela’s, where the drive was held for two weekendsin December. The local program is part of the countywide program which benefits needy families and individuals.
Summerfield Elementary-Middle School’s gym was filled with the sounds of holiday music as the vocal music program presented its annual holiday concert on Thursday, Dec 12. Mary Jean Bell is the vocal music teacher. Pictured, the second graders are singing.

Dundee Community School’s vocal music program presented its annual concert of holiday music on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in the high school cafetorium. The high school choir peformed in uniform.
Summerfield-Petersburg-Deerfield Lions Club hosted its annual holiday luncheon for senior citizens on Thursday, Dec. 12. The event was held in the parish hall at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, and was catered by Amy and Ron Cevora. Meals also were delivered to shut-ins.
Ida High School’s student council collected food for local needy families in its annual “Give a Kid a Christmas” program. The top three first hour classes with the most donations was treated to a continental breakfast.

Dundee High School band members performed holiday music and marched in the “Home for the Holidays” parade in downtown Dundee on Saturday, Dec. 14. Prior to the start of the parade, there was Christmas caroling in the bandstand in Triangle Park. Some Dundee merchants also held prize raffle drawings for customers who visited their stores that evening.
Youngsters shared their Christmas wishes with Santa Claus during a special visit at the Dundee Township Volunteer Fire Department Hall on Saturday, Dec. 14 following the holiday parade. Connor told Santa what he wants for Christmas (besides his two front teeth).
