| Summerfield High School honored the memory of Marine Private First Class Juan Garza, an SHS graduate who was killed in Iraq on April 8, at the first football game of the season. T-shirts were sold, with the proceeds going to the Juan Garza Memorial Scholarship at SHS. Selling shirts on Thursday, Aug. 28 were: Melissa LaRocca, Ashley Goodin and Melissa Koraleski. Ida Firemens Homecoming festival was held last weekend, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 29-31. A zany bed race was held following the parade, on Lewis Avenue downtown. Pictured from left to right are the teams in the final heat: Ida Tavern, Ida Township Volunteer Fire Department and Tonys Sons Plumbing and Heating, which squirted water. Tonys Sons emerged the winner in this years race.
