Ida High Schools annual Homecoming celebration is Friday, Oct. 3. This years Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime of the Ida v. Melvindale varsity football game. Dundees third annual Light the Night walk to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, was held on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Walkers carried red balloons, or white balloons if they were a person or family member touched by cancer. Area residents were thrilled with a brilliant double rainbow on Saturday, Sept. 27. The rainbow was spotted from all over town, although depending on ones vantage point, it appeared to be over the downtown, over M-50 by Kroger, or over the woods east of town. Maybe thats what they mean the futility of chasing rainbows; it sure was pretty, though.

Rose Sancrant prepared her last luncheon at the Dundee Senior Center on Friday, Sept. 26. She is retiring after five years.

Former longtime Dundee cross country coach Jim Beck congratulated Dave Schofield of Dundee on winning the Vikings Beck Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 23. Schofield finished the course in 17:14. The Dundee course is not a fast one, but its interesting, with three miles of cornfields, meadows, woods and hills.
