Students in Dundee’s early elementary classrooms visited the Dundee Township Volunteer Fire Department Hall this week. After watching an educational video, they got to see the equipment and have the firemen’s jobs explained to them. Firefighter Brad Escott demonstrated how the Jaws of Life are used to cut vehicles and free victims trapped inside. The students toured the fire hall on Friday, Oct. 10.

Summerfield’s varsity golf team is competing in the State meet this weekend in East Lansing. The team finished its dual meet season with a 43-0 record, is ranked 11th in the state, and has the longest drive on average of any team in the state, with an average of 290-300 yards. The team hopes to finish in the top 10, and make it to the second day of competition
Ida’s varsity golf team is heading to the State meet this weekend in East Lansing. The team ended its dual meet season with a 16-0 record. The team’s goal is to finish in the top five after finishing 13th last year at the State tournament. The team expects to get some good scores on the open course.
Dundee Elementary’s Student Government is having a “guess the weight of the pumpkin” contest. The huge pumpkin came from the Harnica Kids’ Pumpkin Patch. Fourth grader Courtney Bruce sold guesses at 25 cents each before school on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Cub Scout Pack 703 of Petersburg volunteered their time on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to plant some bushes donated to Summerfield Elementary and Middle School. They took their time and were careful to do a good job. Dundee’s youth soccer season is playing its final games of the season this week and next. Thursday, Oct. 9, Sweden (yellow) met Nigeria (green) on the fields at Reggie’s Park off Strawberry Street. The game ended in a 2-2 tie for the third and fourth graders.
