Students in Mrs. Westrick’s morning kindergarten class checked out a jaw-wiggling, talking scary face in the haunted maze at Houpt’s Pumpkin Patch in Dundee on Friday, Oct. 17. The students also went on a hayride.

Jordan Ratliff, Katie Ornelas and Sarah Seegert enjoyed watching the trains go around the elaborate track at the Boo-Coo train exhibit during the Summerfield Athletic Booster’s craft show on Saturday, Oct. 18 at SHS.
Dundee Community Schools was bequeathed a generous gift by the late Lucy Simons. Superintendent of Schools Robert Black was presented with a $225,000 check by Allen MacDonald, trustee of her estate on Thursday, Oct. 16. Full story in our print edition.
Dundee High School alumni from the classes of 1967, 1968 and 1969 held their reunion the weekend of Oct. 17-18. On Friday, Oct. 17, alumni enjoyed a tailgate party and attended the Dundee High School varsity game against Brooklyn Columbia Central. Some of them even brought their instruments and joined in playing the school’s fight song. The football team was undefeated in those three years of play.
Jacob and Drew enjoyed donuts and cider at Houpt’s Pumpkin Patch on Friday, Oct. 17 when the Dundee kindergarteners made their annual trip for fall harvest fun.
Members of the Dundee Township Volunteer Fire Department, Terry Massingill, Dan Motylinski and Rob Justice listened with a group of school children as a resolution was read in honor of the department on Monday, Oct. 20. The event was a “Safe Schools Week” rally held around the flagpole on the front lawn of Dundee Middle School. Many local officials attended the event.
Student government representatives from elementary, middle and high school joined Dundee School Board members and administrators among others at a ceremony to launch the district’s “Safe Schools Week” on Monday, Oct. 20.

Chris VanWinkle, Phillip Lusch, Caleb Gaston, Ryan Benore, Sarah Kirk and Amber McCain wait their turn to race their homemade balloon-powered cars on Thursday, Oct. 16 in the middle school student commons. The activity was part of a seventh grade science project at Dundee Middle School.
Chris Tansel did an impressive job carrying the ball for Dundee during the varsity football game with Brooklyn Columbia Central on Friday, Oct. 17.
